6 Signs of Spring
If you've visited or live in Britain you'll know that talking about the weather is practically a national pastime. And when the seasons start to slowly turn we like nothing more than to celebrate the sunshine of the approaching Spring. Compared to this time last year we are having amazingly warm weather, and there are plenty of signs that Winter is nearly over.
Part of slow living and being more mindful in life is taking the time to notice what's happening around you. From rural cottages to the top of downtown tower blocks there are plenty of opportunities to observe the unfolding year. Next time you're walking the dog or even just pulling back the curtains, take a few deep, slow breaths and really look around you. Note the sounds you hear, the smells that you notice, the way the light falls and any signs that the Natural world is doing its thing regardless of what us humans are getting up to.
Whilst there may well be another cold snap (we're not putting away our woolly blankets and hot water bottles just yet), we wanted to make today's post a Spring-time celebration to lift your spirits.
From blossoms in bloom to the urge to clean the house, here are 6 signs that Spring is just around the corner.
1.Blossom is beginning to bud and burst into glorious colour.
2.You get the sudden urge to deep-clean the house and shift things around (in this case, revamping the bathroom and displaying fresh linen towels instead of tucking them away).
3.It's almost time to think about swimming in the ocean. But not quite.
4.You drive past a field and just have to slow down to watch the newborn lambs frolicking.
5.You and the kids go foraging along the riverbank and fill the kitchen with pungent smells as you make nettle and wild garlic soup for lunch (which they eat with suspicion).
6.Rich pink sticks of rhubarb are brightening up the garden.
How about you? What are your sure-fire signs that the seasons are changing where you live?
My heart is smiling...
