The benefits of terry

Terry is a velvet-like fabric, slightly stretchy with a high pile. It feels very soft and nice against the skin. Generally commercially available in plain colours, occasionally printed. The natural versions generally have a synthetic component - where the backing is polyester to give strength and durability. The natural fabric is harder to find, but has the advantages that natural fibres give. It also is highly absorbent.

The benefits of wool

Wool reduces the opportunity for odours to generate because it is more efficient than other textiles at absorbing sweat and evaporating it into the air. Studies have shown that bacteria are more attracted to the smooth, positively charged surface of a synthetic fibre than the scaly surface of wool fibre. Wool has a much greater capacity than other fibres to absorb moisture. In fact, it can absorb 35% of its own weight in liquid.

The benefits of linen

Linen is comprised of heat conductivity and high air permeability properties. Linen is cooler in the summer helping to relieve the skin of excess heat and warms by insulating the body in the winter. It remains cleaner for longer periods of time and doesn’t cling to the body. Linen garments are durable. Unlike cotton and other fabrics that yellow with time, linen is prone to remain white and softer with each wash.
