Most home textile items, made of any fabric, in British household – are referred to as "linens", but the true and natural linen is fabric woven from the flax plant. The most appreciated feature of linen fabric is that it remains cool and fresh even in hot and humid environments. Any linen bed linen will be a heaven to sleep even in the hottest weather.

Pure linen used to produce linen bed linen does not provoke allergies or skin irritations on the contrary to many synthetic fabrics. Together its naturally cooling nature, linen fabric makes the ideal material for home textile suitable for sensitive skins.

Apart from linen bed linen, linen fabric is used to produce clothing, bathroom linen, linen tablecloths, linen napkins, dishtowels and lots more. Linen home textile is available in thin, sheer or lacy decorative fabric, or in a tougher, thicker and more durable material suitable for everyday use.

Linen is also a highly environmentally friendly and sustainable. Flax requires only very little chemicals for its cultivation, and every part of the plant is used for some purposes - seeds for eating, fiber for weaving etc. Also important is the fact that flax cultivation is an arduous task, which means it generates a living for many people.

Linen bed linen need some care to prevent it from wrinkling or losing its finish. Expensive hand-made or embroidered or antique linens are best taken care of by professional dry-cleaners, but yourself can wash your linen bed linen - by hand or in the machine. Always iron your linen sheets and tablecloths and napkins while they are damp, and begin on the wrong side.

Linen Bedding

Linen is probably the earliest fabric used by mankind. The Egyptians used linen fabric for mummification - in fact, there are records of linen industries in Egypt from over 3000 years ago.

By wearing and using linen at your home you help the environment, limit your exposure to toxins, and help create jobs for thousands of people.
